let's make believe

A blogumentary of my life as an ordinary girl striving to live life extraordinarily. To live beautifully, dream passionately, and love completely. To fear not of failing, but rather of regret for not trying.
To be courageous. To be true.
To be me, and only me.

Anonymous asked: how was valentine's day?? what did youre bf do for you?

To me, Valentine’s Day is Valentine’s Day. Not wait-for-your-bf-to-surprise-you-day, or facebook-like/comment-competition-day. Despite being the hopeless romantic that I am, I am surprisingly not as crazy about this holiday as people think I would be. Valentine’s day is not about what he does for me — it’s about celebrating the love that we have and how that love has made us better people. More importantly, it’s about celebrating how blessed we are to even have the capacity to love, and how being with him has allowed me to love even more deeply and fully.

I know I would probably be that annoying whiny brat if Peter ignored the day altogether, but really — Valentine’s Day is so much more grand than all the chocolates and roses in the world can represent. It’s a day dedicated to celebrating LOVE! Now THAT’s what the hopeless romantic in me adores.

Honestly, if you are with the one you love, February 14th shouldn’t be any different than February 15th. When he looks at me the same way he looked at me from day 1, my heart still melts. This is our second Valentine’s Day together and I STILL had butterflies while getting ready for our dinner. The anticipation gets me every time. :)

But if you’re really wondering — he made a huge collage documenting our year of “firsts.” First date, first snow trip, first time taking his cousins out, first Christmas, first Halloween, etc… & the first photo of us together — ever. :’) Oh and bacon. There was bacon involved at some point in the night so it was basically perfect. He took me out for shabu and spoiled me with MUCH MUCH more food than my desired beach bod should have been able to finish. Win.

Sorry for the rant. I love “love”, but I don’t love the mainstream concept of Valentine’s Day. Kudos to all of my friends who celebrated their relationships with their honeybunnies more than they celebrated on Facebook, and even more so to all of my single friends who still found ways to celebrate LOVE instead of miserably scrolling through Facebook/instagram. :)
